Łucja Bałzukiewiczówna, a painter, was born in 1887 in Vilnius. She grew up surrounded by art: her father was a self-educated carver and her two elder brothers were artists (Joseph was a painter and Boleslaw – a sculptor). During 1902–1906 Ł. Bałzukiewiczówna attended the Vilnius School of Drawing. About 1910 she left for Paris and spent three years studying painting at O. Boznańska’s private school of art. She was a member of the Vilnius Art Society and participated in its exhibitions. In 1946 L. Bałzukiewiczówna moved to Lublin and joined the local artists’ society. From 1967 she was a member of the Arts Promotion Society in Warsaw. In 1962 and 1970 she held personal exhibitions in Lublin. L. Bałzukiewiczówna painted genre scenes, landscapes (mostly architectural motifs of Vilnius and other cities), portraits, and pictures of religious themes for churches. L. Bałzukiewiczówna died in 1976 in Lublin.
