Europa Prima Pars Terrae Forma Virginis

Author: Heinrich Bünting (1545–1606)

Heinrich Bünting (1545–1606) was a Protestant theologian and chronicler. His book Itinerarium sacrae scripturae was first published in 1581. Its popularity was determined by the unusual allegorical maps in which the world was depicted in the shape of a clover leaf with Jerusalem in the centre, Europe as a Queen and Asia as Pegasus. H. Bünting’s book containing odd maps was published many times in many languages and the maps are still reproduced.
