Between 1972 and 1980, he worked at the Institute for the Restoration of Cultural Monuments. Since 1980 he has been a lecturer at the State Art Institute of Lithuania (since 1990 Vilnius Academy of Art), and an associate professor (1991) and professor (2007) in the Department of Design.
He has painted many small pictures of daily life, in which he uses a metaphorical language, and cycles of symbolic compositions about BAM (the Baikal-Amur Main Line, 1975–1976), The French Cycle (1997), The Italian Cycle (2000), The Greek Cycle (2001), The Spanish Cycle (2003–2005), still lifes and landscapes. He began to participate in exhibitions in 1973, both at home and abroad (Germany, the United Arab Emirates, Greece), and has held nine solo exhibitions.
