Leon Kosmulski was a graphic artist, painter and teacher. He was born on 14 March 1904 in Kiev. He began to study art at the State School of Applied Arts in Poznan and continued at the Art faculty of Vilnius Stephen Bathory University under Ludomir Sleńdziński (painting) and Jerzy Hoppen (graphic art). He finished his studies in 1936 and worked as an assistant at the Art faculty until 1939. He was one of the founders of the Vilnius Group. After the war he lived in Cracow and worked at the Drawing department in the Architecture faculty of the Polytechnic Institute. In 1947 he became a member of the 9 Graphic Artists group. In 1945 and 1951 he held personal exhibitions in Łódź and in 1946 and 1950 in Cracow. His artistic works were posthumously displayed in Cracow in 1953. His graphic works, which he produced before the war, were mostly pictures of Vilnius. He also created ex-libris, posters and illustrated books. He died on 10 October 1952 in Cracow.
