Countryside landscape

Author: Adam Międzybłocki (1883 or 1890–1956)

Adam Międzybłocki, a painter, was born on 4 April 1883 (according to other sources – 1890) in Hryszkańce, Sejny district. In 1899 he attended drawing school in Vilnius. In 1908–1913 he studied at the Cracow Academy of Art under T. Axentowicz and L. Wyczólkowski. At the end of 1913 or the beginning of 1914 he left for the Caucasus and remained there until the end of the First World War. In 1919 he moved to Warsaw and enlisted in the Polish Army. In 1922 he moved to Vilnius, was a member of the Vilnius Plastic Artists’ Society and participated in art exhibitions in Vilnius, Tbilisi, Warsaw, Poznan, Lvov, and others.  In 1945 he moved to Gdansk, where he died on 3 August 1956.
