Aleksandras Vozbinas was born on 4 March 1958 in Vilnius. He studied painting between 1982 and 1988 at the State Art Institute of Lithuania in Professor Savickas’ studio. He has been a member of the Lithuanian Artists’ Association since 1990. He has held more than 30 solo exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad, and shown paintings in more than 50 group exhibitions. The best known were the exhibitions of the Individualists’ Group in Vilnius (1994, 1997), London (1999) and Moscow (2008), exhibitions of contemporary Lithuanian Art in the United Arab Emirates (1996) and Beijing (2000), at the European Parliament in Brussels (2006), in the Lithuanian embassy in Bern (2007), in Washington and Chicago (2010), the exhibition of contemporary painting from the Baltic States in Denmark (2003), the First Vilnius Art Quadrennial (2005), and the 13th Dialogai International Painting Triennial in Vilnius (2007). Vozbinas initiated the Days of Chaim Soutine international plein-air in Lithuania in 1998, and still organises it.
Works by Vozbinas have been acquired by the Lithuanian Art Museum, Vilnius municipality, the Martynas Mažvydas National Library, private galleries in Denmark, Sweden, Great Britain, Germany, Poland, Russia, the USA and the United Arab Emirates, and by private collectors.
