Author: | Alfonsas Motiejūnas (1912–1979) |
Alfonsas Motiejūnas (1912–1979) attended Kaunas School of Art, and later studied at the Institute of Art in Vilnius. After the Second World War, he worked as a set designer for the Vilnius State Drama Theatre, and lectured at the Art Institute. Since he wished to avoid the limitations of Socialist Realism, he became involved in the development of industrial graphic at the Dailė art factory. He was one of the pioneers of the renewal of Lithuanian painting in the early 1960s: he painted in broad brushstrokes, and in pure and intense colours.
