During the interwar period, Roman Jakimowicz (1899–1964) studied in the Art Department at Stephen Báthory University, and from 1927 he taught drawing in gymnasiums in the city. He was a member of the St Luke Society and the Vilnius Society of Artists. He made linocuts and woodcuts, and in 1927 he produced a series of woodcuts called ‘Churches of Vilnius’.
