Vilnius Cathedral

Author: Michał Siewruk (1905–1973)

The Belarusian painter and graphic artist Michał Siewruk (1905–1973) studied in the Art Department of Stephen Báthory University under Ferdynand Ruszczyc and Ludomir Sleńdziński. He was an active participant in artistic life in Vilnius in the interwar period, as one of the organisers of the Vilnius Society of Artists, a member of the Artists’ Cooperative of Vilnius from 1936, and a founder of the Vilnius Group in 1937. He settled in Nesvizh in 1939, and during the Soviet period he moved to Minsk, where he worked as a teacher. Siewruk lived in Minsk until his death.
