Born on 10 December 1894 in Pinsk, Minsk Governorate, died in 1987 in Washington. From 1910 to 1914, he studied at the Vilnius Drawing School, and from 1914 to 1918, continued his studies at the Penza Art School. In 1919, he served as an artist-agitator in the Red Army. In 1921–1923, he studied at the Higher Art and Technology Studio (ВХУТЕМАС) in Moscow. In 1923, Cikovsky emigrated to the USA and lived in New York and its environs. From 1935 to 1949, he taught at the Art Academy of Cincinnati and the Art Institute of Chicago. He was a member of numerous art societies and academies, and together with David Burlyuk belonged to an informal artists’ group “Hampton Bays”. He painted genre compositions representing the everyday life of fishermen and workers, landscapes, still lifes and nudes, and created lithographs. Several solo exhibitions of his works were held in the USA.
