Vincenzo Maria Coronelli (1650–1718) was a Franciscan monk, theologian, mathematician and cartographer. He was an official cartographer of the Republic of Venice and the founder and leader of the very first geographical society Academia cosmografica degli argonauti. His manufactured large terraqueous and celestial globes embellish collections in many prominent museums of the world. V. M. Coronelli produced and engraved about 500 maps, compiled into 13 volumes
of atlases published between 1690 and 1698.
