Pierre van der Aa (1659–1733) was a Leiden-based publisher, editor and bookseller. He issued the atlases Zee En Land-Reysen (c. 1707) and Atlas nouveau et curiex (c. 1710). His other publications worth mentioning are: Atlas Nouveau (c. 1710), Le Nouveau theatre du mone (1713), Nouveau petit atlas (1714) and Nouvel atlas (1714). Another of his important works is the Galerie agreable du monde with 66 parts in 27 volumes, completed in 1729 and containing over 3,000 maps. P. van der Aa’s maps are not especially precise, bet very decorative and therefore in great demand even today.
