When J. Buračas, a few years after his return from France, painted A. Mickevičius’ valley (in the territory of the present zoo in Kaunas) in an impressionist manner, he was more rational and more decorative than P. Kalpokas. For J. Buračas, the truth of life was more important than personal experience and the perception of nature.
