A view of mountains painted in a sketchy style immobilises the emotional reaction and initial impressions. Rimša was surprised by the harmonies of green and russet colours, of the sort that are also found in the Indians’ clothing. The fragmented composition is distinguished by its epic features and the abundance of green tones. Above all, the painter discovered the vitality of green, and rendered its potential power and the luxuriance of the vegetation in the foothills of the Andes.
