Atlante novissimo, made up of four volumes, was devised as a complement to the Erdbeschreibung (a geography textbook translated into many European languages) by Anton Friedrich Büshing (1724–1793) and occupies a very outstanding place in the history of Italian cartography due to the decorative richness of the maps.
