This picture belongs to the early period in Žoromskis’ career. It is possible to judge from it how well he mastered the laws of plein-air and Post-Impressionist painting. During his holidays in Kennebunkport, he created a series of pictures on this theme: he painted in small brushstrokes in various directions, thus expressing the movement of nature and the vibration of light. The feeling of clear air, the balanced composition, the light gracefulness of the manner of painting, and the harmoniously matching colours create the lyrical mood.
