Cosmographia universalis first published in 1544, was an outstanding description of the world as known in the 16th century: a textbook, encyclopedic directory and an atlas of continents, maps and city plans. More than 40 increasingly revised editions of Cosmographia were published in 5 languages between 1544 and 1628. In Cosmographia, Lithuania is presented in the maps of the World, Europe, allegorical Europe, Eastern Europe, Russia, Prussia, Scandinavia and two regional maps.
