The historian and teacher Jan Łasicki (ca 1534–after 1599) was a tutor for the children of noble families. He travelled extensively in Europe in a professional capacity, moving from one university to another. From 1581 until his death he lived with the family of Jan Glebowicz, an official of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, usually in his house on Trakų Street in Vilnius, and sometimes on the Zaslavl estate. His booklet ‘On the Russian, Tatar and Muscovy Religion’ is a work of history on the customs, mythology and religion of various East European countries. The author drew from a large variety of sources, including works by various historians and travellers.
