Thanks to Patricija Jurkšaitytė (b. 1968), semblances once caught by 17th century Dutch painters are coming to life again in Lithuania. This contemporary artist transforms famous classic paintings by eliminating the people, animals and objects. She leaves only what can tell best the stories of the people who created and used them, and which can confirm the time to which things themselves are resistant. The artist says that by highlighting objects in prototypes of her works she tries to help modern viewers see what is obscured by the plot and its underlying attributes. Sometimes her pictures resemble stills from a film, or old photographs.
