The picture was painted in Capri and presented in 1926, in a personal exhibition of paintings in Kaunas (together with the works of K. Šimonis). Glycinia (or Wisteria) is one of the most ornate perennial vines. The rich colours of the blossoming Glycinias and the contrast of their colouring with the surrounding nature of Capri simply fascinated the painter – the magnificent mountainous landscape, lush greenery, cosy white houses accented by their red roofs, and the blueness of the sky. He was mesmerised with the vital nature of flora and the general perfection of the view.
