A collection of 20 books on the history of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth from the library of Dampierre Castle belonging to the Dukes of Luynes (Bibliothèque des ducs de Luynes, Château de Dampierre) was purchased for the Ellex Valiunas collection at a Sotheby’s auction in 2013 (lot 97). All the books are in French, published in Paris and Amsterdam in the 18th century, and their authors are well-known historians and politicians from that time: Michel David de La Bizardière, Pierre Massuet, Pierre-François Guyot Desfontaines, Armand Boisbeleau de La Chapelle, Pierre-Joseph de la Pimpie Chevalier de Solignac, Gabriel-François Coyer, André Guillaume Contant d’Orville and Teophilus Lindsey.
