Historia rerum Prussicarum: Warhaffte und eigentliche Beschreibung der Lande Preussen [...]

Caspar Schütz (~1540–1594), a professor at Königsberg University, published his most remarkable historiographic work, a history of Prussia up to 1525, in 1592 in Zerbst. An updated edition of the book written by the German historian David Chytraeus (1530–1600), with an appendix on the history of Prussia up to 1598, was published in 1599. It covers the arrival of the Teutonic Order, the wars between the Teutonic Order and Lithuania, and the legendary siege of Pilėnai castle in 1336.
