A modest watercolour of orange lilies and daisies in an ordinary ceramic vase does not coincide in any way with our image of the designer of the futuristic geometrical monument to Adomas Mickevičius, which provoked interwar Vilnius society, or with the rest of the artist’s oeuvre. But it turns out that deep in his soul, Zbigniew Pronaszko (1885–1958) was a romantic who was charmed by the countryside around his home, and who produced quite a few watercolours and paintings of vases of flowers from Polish gardens at various times in his life.
