The fourth edition of the volume of poetry by Mathias Casimir Sarbievius (1595–1640), one of the most remarkable Lithuanian poets of the Baroque era, published by the Plantin Press in Antwerp. Pope Urban VIII crowned Sarbievius with a laurel wreath, placing him on a par with Dante and Petrarch. Sarbievius admired and imitated the work of the Roman poet Horace, and was called the Sarmatian Horace by his contemporaries. The Ellex Valiunas collection has ten editions of Sarbievius’ poetry, printed between 1630 and 1759.
