For Lithuanian cartography, the most important was the map of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania’s Livonia and Moscovia by Maciej Strubicz, included in the book by Martinus Cromerus Polonia: sive de origine et rebus gestis Polonorum (Cologne, 1589).
Cartouche of the 1589 map by M. Strubicz: the meaning of the title of this map has been wrongly understood and misinterpreted in resources. In the original there is no comma after Lithvaniae, and therefore, given the meaning and content of the cartographic image, the title of the map refers to Livonia – annexed to the GDL and boardering on the neighbouring territory of Moscovia.
