J. F. Bogucki painted the watercolour The Catholic Consistory House as a sketch for a card. It shows a building on Pilies Street in which important bodies in the ecclesiastical administration had their offices, such as the Catholic Spiritual Consistory, the office of the Diocese of Vilnius, and an archive. It is a striking and asymmetrical 17th-century building: the upper storey is decorated with arches, and the wall on Bernardinų Street is held up by an arch. The square format of the painting, its sinuous lines, the elaborate depiction of details, and the pastel colours, show the influence of Art Nouveau, and the enthusiasm for the art and architecture of former times, retrospectivism, and a love of the spirit of the Old Town.
