This collection of sources on the history of Poland, compiled by the German historian Johann Pistorius (1546–1608) and published in Basel in 1582, contains various geographical descriptions of Poland and Lithuania, and information on the countries’ mythology and their religion by Polish authors (Maciej Miechowita) and foreign authors (Aeneas Sivius Piccolomini, Alessandro Guagnini, Sigmund von Herberstein) from those times. A description of Sarmatia by the early Roman geographer Pomponius Mela is also included in the book.
