Ignacy Chodźko (1794–1861) was a writer from Lithuania. He studied at Vilnius University from 1810 to 1814, was a member of the Szubrawcy Society (his codename was Chief ), and sat on the Vilnius Temporary Archaeological Commission. He wrote a series of five stories on social themes entitled ‘Obrazy litewskie’ (Views of Lithuania), the most popular of which was Pamiętniki kwestarza (Questor’s Memoirs). Chodźko presented an idealised picture of the life and customs of Lithuanian nobles between the 17th and 19th centuries in his historical short stories.
His works are distinguished by their humour and their lively narratives, and had an impact on the development of didactic prose in Lithuania.
