In 1928 Isaac Dobrinsky made pastel drawings of Vilnius city. These include a sketch of Vilnius Cathedral and its bell tower. The importance of the sketch lies not in its documentary nature but in its expressiveness. The dance of the lines, and the slightly opaque blue-green colouring, with the dome of the bell tower adding a touch of sharp red, create a vision of a restless and dynamic city.
