Skirgaila, Duke of Lithuania (1353–1397), son of Grand Duke Algirdas, was the ruler of Trakai (1382–1392), Polock (1386–1393), Kiev (1395–1397) and Grand Duke Jogaila of Lithuania’s vicegerent throughout GDL (1387–1392). He visited Europe and helped Jogaila obtain power; he negotiated with the Poles for the marriage of Jogaila and Jadwiga. Skirgaila was of short temper and notorious for his taste for drinking. He died in Kiev and was buried in the Pechora monastery.
