This is a Lithuanian motif that is rare in Kisarauskas’ later work, with rich colours as in Post-Impressionism. The landscape reveals unexpectedly the artist’s inclination towards sculptural form: the feeling of the voluminous shapes of rocks, trees and houses, and the salience of the brushstrokes. It has an interesting scenic and colourful improvisation for the sky. The picture is distinguished by dramatic tension, the ability to match constructional and Expressionist suggestion of feelings, and to inject vitality and intrigue into the rational composition.
