The port of Klaipėda

The horizontal composition creates an impression of movement of the boats, while the scenic colouring, with rich blue and red features, recalls the pictures by Švažas. This picture is more realistic. The composition is not fragmented, but encompasses the larger space of the port. The aspiration to a romantic mood and the concept of painting are close to the ‘austere style’ that prevailed at the time.
