This is one of Švažas’ most impressive landscapes, painted in the last years of his short life, a year before his death. The most important aspect is the view from the constructional and stiff city walls of free romantic nature, where the mood changes with the change of the seasons and the time of the day. The silhouettes of black branches stand out dramatically in a broken rhythm against the red background. A strong and painful longing for the openness of nature is expressed in the picture, like a foreboding of the tragic end…
