The picture is expressive, painted in minimalistic dark colours then characteristic to V. Kasiulis’ manner of painting, which renders a dismal and dramatic mood to the picture, reflecting his war-time experiences. The painter looks upon the countryside with hope as the place of salvation. This is one of his most sincere landscapes.
