Piekuras painted this picture, one of his most mature landscapes, of his beloved countryside. The white verticals seem to descend from the sky, and proclaim imminent danger, perhaps of an ecological nature. He used artistic means very skilfully in order to create an effect of dissociation from the harmonious natural world in the gaps between the white strips, as if looking through a window. This preserves the artistic unity of the picture, and helps to focus on the concept. Like a Photorealist, Piekuras sought to render photographic reality rather than any other reality.
